This page is being produced to show the works of Author Charles W. Sharp Jr. And to highlight his books at AuthorHouse Publications.

I published my first book “Being Black” At The Sharp Point in March 2004. This publication is an autobiography depicting my life as a child and teenager growing up in a small Western Pennsylvania town.

After getting out of school in 1963 I went into the US Army where I thought I would make a career. After getting shot  in Vietnam in 1968, and again in 1969 I had to decide if that was the best choice for me as a father, and husband.

When you read my book, you will see the decisions I made about the army and my family. Also some good, and some bad choices I made after getting out of the army.

We all can attest to some bad decisions that not only impact your life, but also those around you. Especially your immediate family.

My second book "A Walk On The Rough Side" is a fictional portrayal of a family living on the Northside of Pittsburgh fighting to get out of the projects and into a home in the suburbs. It was published in June 2008, and is available now.

My books depict life on the steets and a want to have something better in life. This comes from getting an education, and helping yourself and your family get away from the negative aspects of the ghetto. I was raised on the streets of one of the most notorious cities in Western Pennsylvania. I spent time in the US Army, got my college education and worked as a banker, policeman, engineer and businessman to get my family out of this type of environment. I also served as a city councilman in South Carolina where I have lived for over 30 years.

It only takes willpower and the steadfast determination that you can make a difference in your life and those around you. Be a doer not a talker. Education is the most important weapon we have in gaining control of our lives and getting away from the negative communities we do not have to live in.  Help your children and grandchildren get the education they deserve and you will see a change coming. In May 2011 my daughter Alicia graduated Suma Cum Laude from the University of North Carlina at Charlotte Medical School with a 4.0 GPA. She is now a practicing Anesthisiologist in Charlotte, NC. My oldest daughter Martina is now a Professor in Sociology at a university in Ohio with degrees from the University of Dayton, and the University of Akron. My son Richard is a graduate from Mt Union College in Alliance, Ohio and is now employed as an accounting manager with a steel company out of Pennsylvania working in Monroe, NC. I am a proud father of educated independent children. My youngest daughter Te'Keisha is presently attending Strayer University in Columbia, SC and will graduate in May 2013 with her degree in Criminal Justice.

I am very proud of all of my children and know that they will all grow into good parents who will also educate my grandchildren about the importance of education in this society.
